About Jennifer, the storyteller
I was a professional Ballet Dancer for most of my life, retiring shortly after the birth of my first son. My love of writing really took hold in High School, where I was encouraged to continue with it even though it wasn’t my chosen career path. I continued writing whenever I could, wherever I could, scribbling notes in cookbooks, phone books, and bits of paper lying around the house. When I had children, I realized that not only could I read them stories from a book but I could tell them stories from my head as well. I met Annie in 2009 and since that time we have been exploring the forests with our own children and stories of what happens in them have been swimming around my head. Thanks to her, now I have a place to put all those stories, instead of in my cookbooks! I am a Waldorf Homeschooling Mama to two little boys and wife to one pretty great husband. I blog about our life at Dark Blue Dragon.

![]() About Annie, the photographer I grew up spending lots of time outside – lots of which was spent in forests like this one. Growing up, I was always very much going to be an artist. I became a professional portrait photographer and deeply believe in the importance of having photographs of those we love. Nature recharges me and my camera is never far, so this project came about as a way to share photographs of nature — two things that mean a lot to me. When dreaming up this project I thought that Jennifer’s stories with photographs of a forest we spend countless hours in together would be an inspired idea. I have the privilege of spending most of my time with my three little ones. I too am married to a pretty fantastic husband.
